Clocky is a Discord bot that helps you track work time using simple check-in and check-out commands. It provides statistics, leaderboards, and is fully GDPR compliant.
How much does it cost?
Clocky offers four tiers:
- Free: Up to 5 active users, 1 year data retention

- Pro ($9.99/month): Unlimited users, 10 years retention, all premium features

See Premium Tiers for details.
Is Clocky safe to use?
Yes! Clocky:
- Does NOT read your messages (no Message Content Intent)
- Uses Row Level Security (RLS) on all database tables
- Is fully GDPR compliant
- Encrypts data at rest and in transit
- Provides data export and deletion tools
Can I use Clocky in multiple servers?
Yes, you can add Clocky to as many servers as you want. However, you can only be checked in to one server at a time to ensure accurate time tracking.
Time tracking
What happens if I forget to check out?
Sessions automatically close after a configured period (default: 12 hours). Admins can adjust this with /admin-set-autoclose or manually close your session with /admin-close-session.
Can I check in to multiple servers simultaneously?
No. You can only be checked in to one server at a time. This prevents double-counting and ensures accurate time tracking.
Do breaks count toward my worked time?
No. Break time tracked with /break start and /break end is excluded from your total worked time. This gives you accurate statistics about actual work time.
Can I edit or delete past sessions?
Currently, you cannot edit individual sessions. However, you can:
- Export all your data with
/data-export - Delete all your data with
/data-delete - Ask an admin to manually close an active session
How accurate is the time tracking?
Time tracking is accurate to the second. Clocky records exact timestamps for check-in, check-out, and break events.
What timezone does Clocky use?
All times are stored in UTC but displayed in your local timezone when possible. Discord handles timezone conversion automatically in embeds.
Privacy & data
Is my data private?
Yes! By default:
- Your statistics are private (only you can see them)
- You don't appear on leaderboards unless you opt-in with
/public - Data is isolated between servers

Who can see my statistics?
- You: Can always see your own stats
- Server admins: Can view your stats with
/stats user:@you - Other users: Cannot see your stats unless you opt-in to leaderboards with
/public
How do I export my data?
Use /data-export to receive a complete JSON export of all your data via DM. This includes:
- User profile

- Statistics
- Preferences
How do I delete my data?
Use /data-delete and confirm with the button. This permanently deletes:
- Your user profile
- All work sessions

This action cannot be undone.
How long is my data kept?
Data retention depends on your server's tier:

After the retention period, old sessions are automatically deleted.

Technical
Why are commands not appearing?
Discord caches slash commands. After adding Clocky, wait 1-5 minutes for commands to appear. On mobile, you may need to leave and rejoin the server.
See Troubleshooting for more solutions.
What permissions does Clocky need?
Required permissions:
- Send Messages: To respond to commands
- Embed Links: To display formatted responses
- Use Slash Commands: For all commands
Clocky does NOT need or request "Read Message History" or "Message Content Intent".
Can I self-host Clocky?
Clocky is currently closed-source and not available for self-hosting. We provide it as a hosted service for reliability and security.
Does Clocky work with Discord bots?
Clocky only tracks commands from real Discord users, not from other bots. Bot accounts cannot use /checkin or other time-tracking commands.
What happens if Clocky goes offline?
- Your active session continues to track time
- When Clocky comes back online, you can still check out normally
- If you were checked in during downtime, time is still calculated accurately
- Auto-close still applies if session exceeds the configured duration
Can I integrate Clocky with other tools?
Currently, Clocky operates standalone within Discord. API integration for external tools is on our roadmap.

Commands
How do I see all available commands?
Type / in any channel and look for Clocky's commands, or visit our Complete Commands Reference.
Why do commands have cooldowns?
Cooldowns prevent abuse and reduce server load. Premium tiers get 50% faster cooldowns.
Can admins bypass rate limits?
Yes, users with "Manage Server" permission bypass both command cooldowns and guild-level rate limits.
What does "ephemeral" mean?
Ephemeral messages are only visible to you. Most Clocky commands use ephemeral responses to keep channels clean and protect privacy.
Leaderboards
Why am I not on the leaderboard?
Leaderboards are opt-in only. Run /public to add yourself to leaderboards. You're private by default for privacy reasons.
Can I opt out of leaderboards after opting in?
Yes, run /public again to toggle your visibility off.
Do leaderboards show my exact worked time?
Yes, leaderboards show your total worked time for the selected range. If you want more privacy, stay opted-out.
Can admins see private stats?
Yes, admins with "Manage Server" permission can use /stats user:@username to view any user's statistics, even if they haven't opted in to public leaderboards.
Breaks
When should I use /break instead of /checkout?
Use /break for temporary pauses (lunch, meetings, coffee breaks) when you plan to return to work.
Use /checkout when you're completely done working for the day.
Can I have multiple breaks in one session?
Yes! You can start and end breaks multiple times during a single checked-in session. All break time is tracked and excluded from worked time.
What if I forget to end a break?
Breaks don't auto-end. If you forget, your worked time calculation will be incorrect. Ask an admin to manually close your session if needed.
