Installation
Adding Clocky to your Discord server is quick and easy. Follow these steps to get started with time tracking in your server.
Prerequisites
Before installing Clocky, make sure you have:
- Server Management Permission: You need the "Manage Server" permission in the Discord server where you want to add Clocky
- Discord Account: A verified Discord account in good standing
- Server Requirements: The server must allow bots to be added (check server settings if unsure)
Adding the bot
Step 1: Invite Clocky
Click the button below or use the invite link to add Clocky to your server:

Step 2: Select Your Server
After clicking the invite link:
- A new window will open asking you to select a server
- Choose the server where you want to add Clocky from the dropdown menu
- Click "Continue"
You'll only see servers where you have the "Manage Server" permission.
Step 3: Authorize Permissions
Review the permissions Clocky is requesting:
- Send Messages: Required to send check-in/check-out confirmations
- Embed Links: Required to display rich embeds with statistics and leaderboards
- Use Slash Commands: Required for all bot commands
Click "Authorize" to complete the installation.
Permissions
Clocky requires the following Discord permissions to function properly:
Required Permissions

Allows Clocky to respond to commands with confirmations and information.

Enables rich embeds for statistics, leaderboards, and formatted responses.

/checkin,/checkout,/stats, etc.

Not required for core functionality. Clocky does not read message content.

Not required. Clocky only sends messages, it doesn't modify or delete user messages.
Clocky does NOT require or request the "Message Content Intent" permission. Your messages are private and never read by the bot.
First steps
Once Clocky is added to your server, try these commands to get started:
1. Check if the bot is online
Look for Clocky in your server's member list. It should have a green "Online" status indicator.
2. Try your first check-in
/checkin
This command starts tracking your work time. You'll receive a confirmation message with your check-in time.
3. Check your status
/status
This shows whether you're currently checked in and for how long.
4. Check out when done
/checkout
This stops tracking and shows you a summary of your work session.
Verification
To verify Clocky is working correctly:
Test Basic Commands
Run these commands in order:
Testing basic functionality
/checkin
# Expected: Confirmation message with check-in time
Verify Statistics
/stats range:today
You should see your work session from the test above in your statistics.
Check Server Configuration
Admins can verify the default configuration:
/admin-set-autoclose hours:12
This sets the auto-close duration to 12 hours (the default).
Troubleshooting Installation
Bot commands not appearing
If slash commands aren't showing up:
- Wait a few minutes: Discord caches commands and may take 1-5 minutes to update
- Check bot permissions: Ensure Clocky has "Use Slash Commands" permission
- Rejoin the server: Try leaving and rejoining the server (on mobile, this often helps)
- Kick and re-invite: Remove the bot and add it again with the invite link
Bot not responding
If Clocky isn't responding to commands:
- Check bot status: Ensure the bot shows as "Online" (green dot)
- Verify permissions: Make sure Clocky can "Send Messages" in the channel
- Check server outage: Visit our status page to check for known issues
- Contact support: Join our support server for help
Permission errors
If you see permission errors:

Solution: An admin needs to:
- Go to Server Settings → Roles
- Find the Clocky role
- Ensure "Send Messages" and "Embed Links" are enabled
- Check channel-specific permission overrides
