First steps

Once Clocky is added to your server, try these commands to get started:

1. Check if the bot is online

Look for Clocky in your server's member list. It should have a green "Online" status indicator.

2. Try your first check-in

/checkin

This command starts tracking your work time. You'll receive a confirmation message with your check-in time.

3. Check your status

/status

This shows whether you're currently checked in and for how long.

4. Check out when done

/checkout

This stops tracking and shows you a summary of your work session.

Verification

To verify Clocky is working correctly:

Test Basic Commands

Run these commands in order:

Testing basic functionality

/checkin
# Expected: Confirmation message with check-in time

Verify Statistics

/stats range:today

You should see your work session from the test above in your statistics.

Check Server Configuration

Admins can verify the default configuration:

/admin-set-autoclose hours:12

This sets the auto-close duration to 12 hours (the default).

Troubleshooting Installation

Bot commands not appearing

If slash commands aren't showing up:

  1. Wait a few minutes: Discord caches commands and may take 1-5 minutes to update
  2. Check bot permissions: Ensure Clocky has "Use Slash Commands" permission
  3. Rejoin the server: Try leaving and rejoining the server (on mobile, this often helps)
  4. Kick and re-invite: Remove the bot and add it again with the invite link

Bot not responding

If Clocky isn't responding to commands:

  1. Check bot status: Ensure the bot shows as "Online" (green dot)
  2. Verify permissions: Make sure Clocky can "Send Messages" in the channel
  3. Check server outage: Visit our status page to check for known issues
  4. Contact support: Join our support server for help

Permission errors

If you see permission errors:

❌ Error: Missing Permissions

Solution: An admin needs to:

  1. Go to Server Settings → Roles
  2. Find the Clocky role
  3. Ensure "Send Messages" and "Embed Links" are enabled
  4. Check channel-specific permission overrides
